Mizuno JPX 900 Hot Metal Steel Irons, 5-SW(7 Clubs), Right Handed
Mizuno’s newest material Chomoly 4140M – is introduced in the JPX900 Hot Metal, which combines offensive ball speeds with the adjustability of a forged iron. The secret to this groundbreaking new material is its versatility, which not only paves the way to Mizuno’s thinnest ever cup face for phenomenal distance, but also remains soft and bendable in the hosel for precise lie angle adjustments. The wedges also have their own material – a softer X30 steel that offers all the feel and precision around the greens that even distance-seeking golfers demand.
At the heart of the JPX900 Hot Metal iron is a new material, Chromoly 4140M, which also is used to make bicycle frames, roll cages in sports cars and tubing in aircraft. It is a combination of chromium and molybdenum, which forms a metal that has an extremely high strength-to-weight ratio.
“Chromoly 4140M really allows us to dial in hardness in specific areas,” said Mizuno club designer Chris Voshall. “That means we can keep a very strong, hard face while maintaining a very bendable hosel.”
Instead of making the back of the face flat, it was designed like a shallow cup, wrapping around the sides, into the topline and down into the sole.
